Sporting Legends Gallery at Antrim Forum

When Antrim Council decided to celebrate the sporting successes of the borough with the creation of the Gallery of Sporting Legends to mark the 40th birthday of Antrim Form, along with Antrim’s involvement in the London 2012 Olympic Games, Maurice Flynn & Sons Ltd were delighted to be appointed to deliver the new facility. The gallery features the achievements of Antrim’s Olympic and Common wealth champions, as well as those who have achieved at the highest level within their sport or contributed greatly to sport in the borough.

The first 12 names to be inducted into the Gallery of Sporting Legends are: the late Alvin Carson(hockey), Stephen Daley (football–Futsal Visually Impaired, Maeve and Sean Kyle (athletics and hockey), Eugene Laverty (motorcycle racing), Mairead Magill (camogie), Jim Montague (boxing), Allen McKnight (soccer), Liz-Anne Walshe (netball), Mark Winters (boxing), Willie John McBridge (rugby),AP McCoy (horse racing).Nominations were sought from the public and were then verified by the Governing Bodies before being shortlisted by a Gallery of Sporting Legends sub-group. It is in anticipated that further names will be added to the Gallery of Sporting Legends in the coming years.
